New Believers’ Classes
INTRODUCTION
Since the start of Harvest House International Johannesburg in February 2005, we have felt that God is inspiring us to fulfill Hagai 1:8 which says “Go up to the mountains and bring wood and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it and I will be glorified, says the Lord” through teaching and equipping new believers in the fear and love of God.
Our new believers’ class starts at 8:30 am to 9:30 am on the sideline of the early morning service. The class is specifically designed for saints who have just been born again (normally those born again within the previous 2 – 3 months). However all saints who feel drawn to learn or revisit the foundational principles of the Christian Faith are welcome. The new believers students go through a carefully structured eight distinct lessons delivered over a period of two to three months after which they are graduated and granted certificates.
OBJECTIVES
- Teach new believers the basics of Christian doctrine
- Explain and encourage these new members of the church to understand and embrace the vision and apostolic mandate of the HHI
- Lay a foundation in study, devotions, Christian living and fellowship among new believers
- Equip the new believers to find their place in the Church and participate in the house of God while they their gifting and calling.
HIGHLIGHTS
During the new believers’ classes, teachers ensure that students:
- Understand all the basics of each lesson
- Open up scriptures and read out the selected references
- Take down notes – this is a discipline in Christian life
- Have the opportunity to actively participate and ask questions
- Have time to practice what they have learnt during a particular lesson
- Memorise scriptures and present memory verses in classes.
We glorify God for the privilege of equipping the saints for the work of ministry during their baby steps stage.
